PROJECT OVERVIEW

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is making improvements to Interstate 405 (I-405), between Interstate 5 (I-5) and Harbor Boulevard. The project will improve safety for all modes of travel, increase the life expectancy of pavement, enhance traffic operations, and mitigate congestion.

Weekend Full Closure — I-405 Irvine Center Drive Off-Ramp

Full weekend closures of the southbound (SB) I-405 Irvine Center Drive off-ramp are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17 at 10 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 20 at 5 a.m., and from Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 27 at 5 a.m.* to allow crews to safely perform striping, paving, and drainage work at the off-ramp.

Detour routes will be posted to help motorists navigate through the area during the closure. Please follow all temporary construction signage and reduce your traveling speed through our construction zone.

Southbound (SB) I-405 > Northbound (NB) SR-133 > Gateway > Irvine Center Dr.

SB I-405 > Bake Pkwy. > Irvine Center Dr.

PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE:

Enhanced safety for the traveling and public maintenance crews.

Pavement rehabilitation and bridge widenings.

Traffic management system improvements.

Irrigation and landscape enhancements.

The addition of a new Park and Ride facility.

Bike Lane and ADA Curb Ramp improvements.

FUNDING

The project is funded through 2020 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP), a component under Senate Bill 1 (Roads repair and Accountability Act of 2017).
